Harmon Industries Wins Denver Expansion Contract

BLUE SPRINGS, MO. (TUESDAY, JUNE 9, 1998) - Harmon Industries, Inc. has been awarded a $3.1 million contract to furnish and install the signal system for the extension of Denver's Light Rail system, operated by the Regional Transportation District (RTD). The extension, which will run from Denver to Littleton, Co., is the first of several planned extensions of the Denver Light Rail system. The initial line operates with a signal control system furnished by Harmon and commissioned in 1994.

Under this new contract Harmon will furnish and install a conventional signal control system comprised of interlocking control systems and Automatic Block Signaling (ABS). The project is scheduled to be completed in 2000, adding 7.5 route miles and provide additional capacity to the southern suburbs along the Santa Fe corridor. The line will run along existing railroad right-of-way. Under separate agreements, Harmon is also providing the signal control system for the relocated railroad line.
