Harmon Industries Announces Major New Contract

BLUE SPRINGS, Mo. (Thursday, March 13, 1997) -- Harmon Industries Inc., a leading supplier of signal and train control equipment for railroad and rail transit systems throughout North America and the world, today announced it was awarded a major new cab-signaling contract with General Electric Transportation Systems.

Harmon will supply GE with 150 multi-territory Ultra Cab II units for installation in the latest model of their AC traction locomotives. Ultra Cab II is a microprocessor-based train control unit that enables passenger and freight railroads' productivity to rise by increasing the number of trains operating on the same track safely. It is also the backbone of the Incremental Train Control System currently being tested in the Michigan high-speed rail project. The delivery of the 150 Ultra Cab II units will be completed in 1997.
