Harmon Industries Wins Contracts In U.S., China

BLUE SPRINGS, Mo. (Thursday, October 5, 1995) -- Harmon Industries Inc., a leading supplier of signal and control equipment for railroad and mass transit systems throughout North America and the world, announced today it was awarded a $2.2 million contract from Union Pacific Railroad and a $727,000 contract in the People's Republic of China.

The Union Pacific contract calls for Harmon to furnish pre-wired housings, engineering, Harmon's Vital Harmon Logic Controllers (VHLC - microprocessor based interlocking controller), Electro Code-4 Track Circuit equipment and other required materials for installation on Union Pacific's suburban line in Chicago. The equipment will be installed in 1996.

The $727,000 contract calls for Harmon to furnish hot box detectors for mainline railroad operations in the People's Republic of China. Installation will be completed in 1996. This contract raises the total orders for Harmon's hot box detectors in the People's Republic of China to $1.4 million in 1995.
